Mariah Carey’s reputation as the holiday season’s reigning monarch is well-deserved. Her timeliness is one example of this. After wasting no time at all, MC began her yearly tradition of reminding the Lambily that Christmas is approaching, but that they shouldn’t put up lights until after Halloween. “Not yet,” she frequently assures them.
However, after the clock strikes midnight on November 1st, Mariah is all set to party like it’s Christmas! On Tuesday night (November 31), she shared a 35-second video with the remark, “It’s…… TIME!!! “, accompanied by pumpkin, ice block, and Christmas tree emoji and the hashtag #MariahSZN.
The video starts out with an image of a frozen vault with a red countdown clock reading “November 1 12:00.” When the door to the vault is opened, a team of Carey’s helpers in terrifying costumes and carrying hair dryers rushes in to aid Mariah in breaking free of a massive block of ice.
Mariah, being Mariah, finishes the job with a trademark high note, breaking the ice with a trill of “It’s time!!!!” as the block shatters and she emerges in a red and white Santa-style suit among snowfall and a forest of Christmas trees. Her 12-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan, get in on the holiday spirit by dancing with the crowd when Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” is played for the first time this year.
The 1994 smash has been a Christmas mainstay for decades, but it wasn’t until 2019 that it topped the Billboard Holiday 100. Beginning on November 15 in Highland, California, Carey will begin her 13-city Merry Christmas One and All! tour, which will take her throughout North America until her performance at Madison Square Garden on December 17th.
